Getting Climate Control Under Control
Virtual Presentation and Conversation
Monday, November 10, 2025, 10:00-11:00am PST

An in-depth conversation on how cultural institutions are rethinking climate control to reduce emissions while protecting artworks. Caitlin Southwick, founder of Ki Futures, will trace the history of environmental standards in collections care, share conservators’ evolving perspectives, and highlight how Ki Futures has supported institutions worldwide in adopting sustainable practices. The program will then feature a case study from Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, presented by Facilities Manager, Fernando Vargas, and Exhibition Manager, Peter Mundwiler, detailing the gallery’s work with Ki Futures resulting in reduction in energy consumption, improved system efficiency, and advancing a more nuanced, data-driven approach to climate control.  Open Q&A to follow.
